<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>In this article, the author considers the features of the foreign policy strategy of Uzbekistan and the factors that predetermined them. The author considers Uzbekistan's choice of "balancing equidistance" strategy as a result of political reflection of the country's leadership in response to the challenges of global uncertainty in the situation of crisis of international institutions inherited from the "bipolar world". The author of the article describes Uzbekistan as a medium-sized state, deprived of access to the seas («landlocked») and unable to use the strategy of bandwagoning. At the same time, the strategy of «passive and isolationist neutrality» used by some of Uzbekistan's neighbors is appreciated by the author of the article as unacceptable for the consistently self-asserting Uzbek state in the international arena.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>внешняя политика</kwd><kwd>двухполярный мир</kwd><kwd>балансирующая равноудаленность</kwd><kwd>государство среднего размера</kwd><kwd>bandwagoning</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>foreign policy</kwd><kwd>bipolar world</kwd><kwd>balancing equidistance</kwd><kwd>medium-sized state</kwd><kwd>bandwagoning</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><back><ref-list><title>References</title><ref id="cit1"><label>1</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="ru">Численность населения Узбекистана превысила 33, 25 млн. – 21.01.2019. – Режим доступа: https://www.ritmeurasia.org/news--2019-01-21--chislennostnaselenija-uzbekistana-prevysila-33-25mln.chelovek-40630 (дата обращения: 25.07.2019)</mixed-citation></citation-alternatives></ref><ref id="cit2"><label>2</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="ru">Austin, D.
