To the question of bio-morality

Abstract

The article studies the theoretical justification of a new ethical category of bio-morality. The relevance of its use is due to the complexity and inconsistency of the processes currently emerging in the fields of medicine and biology. Bio-morality allows not only to apply universal moral requirements to these areas but also to incorporate moral ideas into the system of biomedical activity regulation. The author reveals peculiarities and main features of biomorality. By means of functional and axiological methods, the bio-morality structure is elaborated, including specific values, norms, feelings, and practical constituents. In this connection, the importance of scientists’ and doctors’ moral duty and responsibility is emphasized. In conclusion, the author admits a tendency of gradual moralization and ecologization of public consciousness.
